The Climate Crisis: Politics, Values, and Activism to be Club focus for April

The LW Democratic Club enthusiastically welcomes activist & author Roger Gloss who will be speaking on climate change during its upcoming membership meeting on Wednesday, April 19th at 1:00 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2.  His presentation will cover recent trends in warming and climate destruction, the current status of global action, and information about Orange County for Climate Action.  Club members and friends are encouraged to bring questions for this talented presenter.

Roger Gloss grew up near Buffalo, New York. He left the eastern U.S. to attend UCLA, where he earned a B.S. in Physics. He then settled in Southern California and has lived there ever since with his wife Linda. Now retired from a career in information technology, he devotes his time to writing and activism against climate change and systemic environmental destruction. Roger enjoys travel, the outdoors, an active lifestyle, reading fiction and history and, of course, writing.

It is also spring potluck time!  The Club’s April 19th general meeting will be preceded by a potluck luncheon at 12:00.  Dems are asked to bring a salad or main dish and a hearty appetite!

Climaxing a month of action on climate change, the Club will participate in a Peoples March on Saturday, April 29 in Irvine.  Patterned after the earlier Women’s March, this event is part of a nationwide action to unify multiple interests affected by climate change.  There will be a chartered bus to get those interested to and from this important event.  The Club is asking for a donation of $20 per seat to defray the cost.  Please email Laura Wilson at for information or reservations.

There is always a place for member involvement in Club activities.  Contact President Mary Larson at to share your interests and be directed to the appropriate committee or group.
