Democratic Club to Honor Dr. Suzanne Savary at Annual Dinner

All interested Leisure World residents are invited to join the Democratic Club in honoring Dr. Suzanne Savary as the featured speaker at our Saturday, July 9th Annual Dinner at 6:00 p.m. in Clubhouse 4.   Dr. Savary is our California Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate for Congress, running to replace Republican incumbent Dana Rohrabacher as our representative from the 48th District.

Dr. Savary, as one of the leading progressive voices in Orange County, is a champion for women’s access to reproductive health, tolerance and pay equality.  Her environmental goals for our county are to repair crumbling sea walls, provide for the safety of nuclear waste from San Onofre and to work for collaboration on desalination development.   She comes from a long line of political activists.  Her great uncle, a former chief justice of the New York State Supreme Court, fought organized crime in the ’30s and ’40s. Her father fought with the Third Marine Division in Iwo Jima. Her uncle helped Bobby Kennedy write the RICO laws that toppled modern organized crime.

Sue is a retired University of Southern California Associate Professor, where she taught management and communications in the Marshall School of Business.  As CEO of her own Management Consulting Firm since 1979, she has helped clients, ranging from Fortune 20 companies to small biotech firms, grow their businesses by teaching managers and executives how to create a high performance environment – exactly the skills that are most needed in Congress today.

Tickets for the Annual Dinner are $25 and can be paid for at the door but they must be reserved in advance by calling Laura Wilson at 562-760-6660 by July 5th.   Those preferring wine with their dinner may bring their own selection.  Purple Hillary mini tote bags and mint tins will be available for a modest donation.

It has been an especially critical year in the world of politics, and funds raised at the dinner will be used to support candidates, important causes, and programs that encourage Leisure World residents to vote in November!  We hope to see you there!
